I value my education as it is learning is a lifelong project. Education opens doors. As an art student, experiencing life and channeling the experiences and emotions into works of arts is my lifelong goal. Arts allows us to leave our own state of mind and bodies, to see things from a different viewpoint which let us know there will always be something bigger than us and let us experience universal emotions of beings. By seeing this, arts helps us to gain sympathy and passion for living in the mundane. The same goes for learning. When one stops learning, he stops living. Living without constant reflection is basically dying.

Personal Career Goal

Right now, as an art student studying higher diploma in the Hong Kong Design Institute, my current goal is to continue my study in the art field. From my learning experience in this programme, I discovered my passion for art learning. Spending time investing in my practice had brought me great joy and fulfilment. I am very curious and would love to continue learn more about visual arts and the art field in general. I wish to continue my art study in university and at the same time explore on various art forms, medium and materials in order to further develop my own artist path.

Career wise, I would like to participate in the art field. Beside creating artworks, jobs working in galleries or museums and engaging in exhibitions, art fairs and art shows all would be my choice of my career. Engaging in assisting art spaces and platforms would be an opportunity for me to see outside of myself. This is a chance for me to see how other participating artists work and their unique creative process, which is why I would love to be engaged in assisting with art spaces and shows.

Lifelong Learning

Whether chasing after professional ambitions or personal interests, it is recognised that we have a natural instinct to learn, to be curious and to explore. Feeding on our curiosity. Keep experimenting. Keep looking for answers. These would encourage one to live with gratitude and enthusiasm. Lifelong learning means treating everyday as brand-new, allow us to break through from our perceptions of ourselves. Learning keep us young and makes things exciting. Keep us hungry for new experiences and openness to accept, grow and move forward.

Practical Ways to Learn

Lifelong learning may seems vague, however, the practices mentioned below are always helpful for me to keep track of my goal.

1. Be open to new experiences

As mentioned earlier, I believe it is important to keep an open mind for personal development. Keeping an open mind attracts new experiences into one's life. Experiencing new activities and events provide a chance for us to reflect.

2. Read

I like to read. Outside from lecture reading materials, I often wander around in local bookstores and find interesting readings. I dig into topics I am interested. Reading not only feed on my curiosity but also allow me to see outside of my point of view. There are millions benefits of reading, one of them would be the knowledge and empathy books always show me.

3. Art Practice

Once again, as an art student creating works is my goal. Living at the moment and also channeling my personal experiences into artworks. This process never fails to bring new perspectives to me. Some kinds of creative outlet is important for everybody. It breaks the never stoping cycle of heavy reality and allows intuition and subconscious mind and emotions take over for awhile. The creative process is inspiring, it stimulates one's brain and encourages learning within living.

4. Journalling

Journalling is one of the best ways to practice gratitude. Practicing gratitude motivates us to find beauty in the most mundane things. Learning to find things to be grateful for helps me to find positive motivation towards life.
